Who is Andy Hylton?

My journey started in theatre, later developing an interest in music videography and social photography. This lead to me studying Documentary Communication at the University Of Lincolnshire in Hull. My first film ‘Vinyl’ was commissioned by ITV and wrote and also screened at BAFTA as part of the British Film Institute and Kodak New Directors showcase.  ‘Vinyl’ was selected by Buena Vista International as a theatrical support film for Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Pi’ at the National Film Theatre, London.

Brighton based label Skint Records commissioned my first music video and I was later represented by award winning film production companies Oil Factory and H.S.I. London, with a nomination for Best New Director at the MusicWeek CAD Awards. My original concepts lead to working with major recording labels and International artists from grime to pop, such as Paul Weller, Yolanda Be Cool, So Solid Crew, Victoria Beckham, Nitin Sawhney, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jamie Cullum, Estelle,  Beverley Knight and Paul Heaton.

Working responsibly to help meet client’s needs and surpass expectations, I have successfully pitched original concepts at a high level and thrive on directing and nurturing collaborative teams and supporting new talent. With experience shooting on set and on locations in US, South Africa, Cuba, Europe, Mexico, Caribbean and Japan, my simple visual narratives often combine authentic realism and subtle humour. With a sharp editorial eye and fresh visual style, my strengths lie in heartfelt visual story-telling and creative casting.
